Property worth Rs 25 lakh was damaged in the fire
The factory is located in the district's Proddatur town. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit in a room where firecrackers were stored.
Since the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali are just round the corner, firecrackers in huge quantities were stored in the room.
The fire could be seen from a distance of about one mile, as the firecrackers lit up the night sky.
Half of the town was reportedly engulfed in the smoke from the fire.
Police and fire fighters rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control shortly after.
As water from one fire engine turned out to be insufficient, another truck was brought in from the neighbouring Mydukur to douse the fire.
Electricity was further cut-off on the Andhra Kesari road and Prakashnagar areas as a precautionary measure.
Property worth Rs 25 lakh was damaged in the fire, but no casualties were reported, officials confirmed.
