As per the norm, while on the first day, the Economic Survey will be tabled in the house for the FY 2018-19, on 1 February, the Interim Budget will be tabled by the Finance Minister for the upcoming financial year. This will be the last budget for the government before elections.
In view of the general elections for the 17th Lok Sabha, the current Modi-led NDA Government will opt for the Interim Budget.
Unlike in the General Budget, no big ticket announcements are made in Interim Budget and only expenditure side of the Budget (Vote-on-Account) is taken care of.
The General Elections are expected to be held in April and May in different phases and the full General Budget will be presented by the new government in July 2019.
