The Constitution of India is the supreme law of the nation. It explicitly lays down the framework defining basic principles pertaining to governance, establishes the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and sets out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens. It is the longest written constitution in the world. Constitution is a living document, an instrument which makes the government system work. Its flexibility lies in its amendments.
